Rumor hints at impending MacBook Air updates, slim 12-inch MacBook and late 2014 iWatch launch

macbookosxA post on and reported by MacRumors potentially sheds some light on upcoming changes to Apple’s MacBook notebook line as well as some details about the rumored iWatch. The poster has a track record of posting legitimate information, making these rumors more credible than other leaks.

The poster describes upcoming changes to the MacBook Pro line as well as hinting at a new 12-inch notebook that is predicted to include a trackpad without a mechanical button and possible fan-less design.

1. MacBook Air updates are coming soon; MacBook Pro updates won’t occur until September.
2. He discusses a new 12 inch notebook without fan assembly. It comes with a new trackpad design that doesn’t include the mechanical button, as we do on current MacBooks.
3. An Apple watch device does exist but still in prototype stage, so its announcement won’t come anytime soon.

It is not known where a 12-inch MacBook would fit into Apple’s notebook lineup, which already includes both an 11-inch and a 13.3-inch model. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year predicted a 12-inch Retina MacBook Pro for release in 2014. While the trackpad was not mentioned by Kuo, it may be related to a recent patent application that describes a trackpad powered by sensors and actuators, instead of a mechanical hinge.

The post author also address the iWatch, noting that it still is in the prototype stage and won’t be announced anytime soon. This keeps with prevailing rumors, which suggest the iWatch will debut later this year.
