Only yesterday we spoke about how Apple could be in talks to acquire Beats Electronics for a whopping $3.2 billion. And earlier today, a new video uploaded by R&B artist Tyrese Gibson has almost confirmed the acquisition. Dr. Dre makes an appearance in the video claiming that he’s the first billionaire in hip hop, which is pretty much a giveaway of what’s to come.
Needless to say, both artists are clearly inebriated and the video has now been taken down from Facebook. But thanks to the buzz it created, people were quick enough to upload the video onto YouTube. Dr. Dre clearly seems excited with what’s to come and it will be interesting to see how long it takes for this deal to materialize.
Beats Electronics owns the popular line of headphones as well as the recently launched Beats Music streaming service, which is competing primarily with the likes of Spotify, Rdio, Apple’s own iTunes Radio and a handful of others in the industry. The acquisition will certainly help Apple bolster its presence in the music streaming arena which has been simmered down a bit with the presence of several new competitors.
iTunes Radio has just started rolling out globally, so we could see the services being merged if this deal goes through. You can watch the 83 second video uploaded by Tyrese Gibson below, but bear in mind it contains plenty of NSFW language.
