With nearly 800 million people connected to public figures on Facebook, it can be difficult for actors, athletes and other public figures to interact and communicate with their fans on the social network. To improve that experience, Facebook on Thursday announced availability of its new Mentions app for public figures with verified pages in the United States.
Facebook Mentions provides streamlined notifications about posts, including mentions from other influencers or the media. Public figures can post updates, share photos or videos or host a live Q&A session directly through the app. Mentions also displays the latest posts from followers and trending topics to stay on top of popular conversations.
Mentions is a new way for actors, athletes, musicians and other influencers to discover and join conversations on Facebook.
• See what fans are saying – Start a conversation with people and influencers who are talking about you.
• Tell your story – Share updates, photos and videos and host live Q&As directly from your phone.
• Join popular conversations – Discover what’s trending and add your voice to the story.
Facebook will be rolling out the platform to more countries and verified profiles in the coming months, while verified page administrators can request access on a manual basis as well.
Facebook Mentions is free on the App Store for iPhone.
