Whenever a new iPhone is announced, Apple rarely — if at all — makes reference to how much RAM is under the hood. But now that the embargo has lifted for major tech publications to post their iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus reviews, it has been seemingly confirmed that the iPhone 6 Plus has the same 1 GB of RAM as the iPhone 6.
A number of different tech publications have confirmed that the iPhone 6 Plus has 1 GB of RAM in their in-depth reviews of the device, including Macworld and The Guardian. It is unknown if Apple has confirmed that specification to these websites directly, as the iPhone maker does not make any reference to RAM on its tech specs page.
TechRadar sister website T3 wrote the following about the iPhone 6 Plus in its review:
“The 1GB of RAM inside, again, doesn’t sound too beefy, but seemed to handle the new multi-tasking features well and propped up some simultaneous emailing, video watching and HD gaming. Internal tweaks such as the Metal graphics upgrade we must wait to see the benefit of, but the new BioShock port is one of the most demanding games on iOS currently and it performed great, as did The Wolf Among Us (check out that colour spectrum) and Asphalt 8 (speeeeeeed).”
iPhones have typically lagged behind Android-based smartphone competitors in terms of RAM, but Apple delivers an optimized hardware-software experience that manages to deliver strong performance for several tasks, like playing graphics-intensive games and multitasking.
