During a press event in New York City, HTC announced new products. One of which offers iPhone support right out of the box, and can even make your iPhone work as a viewfinder.

HTC officially introduced the RE camera, a device that has been speculated on for quite some time. It’s a stand-alone camera, with a very unique design, which HTC says makes it easy to use. The device offers only two buttons: The first to press and take 16-megapixel images, or to long-press and record 1080p HD video. The second button is one dedicated specifically to slow-motion video, while keeping it in HD quality.

HTC’s RE camera features a 146-degree wide angle lens, and the device offers the “latest” in image stabilization. And, as you can see from the video below, the RE camera is indeed waterproof, which means you can dive into a pool and keep on filming.

HTC is also working with YouTube to make sure that if you so desire, you can stream video straight to the service, live. What’s more, HTC may not have offered a viewfinder on the RE camera itself, but you can simply pair the camera device to your iPhone and use your smartphone as a giant viewfinder, if you so desire.

HTC says that the RE camera will be available sometime soon, “in time for the holidays,” and that it will be on sale from a variety of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy and HTC’s own website. It will come in a variety of colors, including navy blue, teal, white, and orange, and be available for $199. You can head through the source link below to pre-order the camera now.
