Apple Watch reportedly launching in March with retail training beginning in February

The Apple Watch has been penciled in for an “early 2015” launch ever since it was officially unveiled by Apple in 2014, but according to a new report, consumers may want to start keeping an eye on one month in particular.

According to a report published by 9to5Mac on Tuesday, January 6, the Apple Watch is now expected to launch sometime in the month of March. Specifically, the report states that the Watch is set to begin shipping “by the end of March” in the United States. Indeed, while Apple’s general marketing has said that the Watch will launch in the early part of 2015, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail Angela Ahrendts said that the wearable will launch sometime in the “spring of 2015,” so a March release would make sense, and line up quite nicely with that timeframe.

Perhaps unsurprisingly is a major shift in retail training towards the new wearable as well, with the report stating that Apple is going to launch an extensive testing program for retail store employees to get familiar with the upcoming device. A select amount of lucky employees will actually get to visit either Cupertino, California or Austin, Texas, to actually get hands-on experience with the Watch, as well as more in-depth training.

These training sessions will take place between February 9 and February 16. Before the official launch of the Watch, these selected employees will then need to train the other retail representatives in their stores when they return. As noted in the original report, the current plan from Apple is to launch the Watch in March, with retail training kicking off in February, but unexpected issues could arise and delay the launch. Of course, all of this is a rumor until Apple officially confirms something, but for now, it’s certainly possible.
