WidgetCenter: Jailbreak tweak lets you add widgets to Reachability view

Ever since the jailbreak for iOS 8 was released, many developers have been focusing on Reachability to produce tweaks that better utilize the empty space. WidgetCenter is an amazing new jailbreak tweak that allows users to view widgets directly from Reachability.

The tweak features a limited amount of widgets with a beautiful design and animation that make them look like a native feature. To view them, all you have to do is to invoke Reachability and swipe left or right to switch from one widget to another. The interesting part about it is that as you switch from one widget to another, the tweak will adjust the size of Reachability dynamically to fit the widget.

Once you install WidgetCenter, a new preferences pane will be available in the Settings app where you can configure it. From there, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand and place the Reachability view at the top or the bottom of the screen once invoked.

In the Widgets section, you’ll find four widgets that come bundled with the tweak. These include:

  • WCSwitcher: displays the App Switcher in the Reachability view.
  • WCMusic: adds a music widget that displays the playback buttons, album artwork, song name and title.
  • WCControl: displays a compact version of Control Center with switch toggles, Quick Launch apps and brightness slider.
  • WCTime: displays a digital clock along with an animated analogue clock and the current date.

You can drag the handles next to each widget to adjust their order as well as move the widgets that you don’t want to the ‘Disabled Widgets’ section. Fortunately, you’re not required to respring your device after making the changes.

The sleek design of the widgets is one of the selling points of the tweak. The developer has also provided a WidgetCenter Developer Guide link in the preferences pane to allow other interested developers to build new widgets for the tweak.

If you’re interested to give this tweak a try, you can purchase it for $1.99 from Cydia’s BigBoss repo.
