Dark Sky is one of the more popular weather apps available in the iOS App Store, and rated as one of the best options available for iOS users.
Now, the app has been updated to version 5.0 with a range of new features and tweaks, as well as new ways to get notifications for weather-related elements a user might be interested in. Starting with the notifications, Dark Sky will now let users customize what they want to get notified about, while keeping rain notifications as part of the main selling point. Now, users can set notifications for the next 24 hours, and include warnings for precipitation, temperature and snow accumulation.
The general interface of the app has been altered as well, now showing a 24-hour vertical timeline, which will still show users when they should expect to see rain. The new timeline will now show the UV index, humidity, wind speed, temperature and more.
What’s worth noting specifically for iPhone 6 users is the ability to opt-in for the app to gather pressure sensor data, which should promote better short-term forecasts.
Dark Sky costs $3.99, and it’s available now in the App Store.
