T-Mobile today announced its new smartphone leasing program called “JUMP! On Demand.” Under the new program, the magenta carrier will allow customers to switch up to three smartphones every year for free.
To enjoy this benefit though, T-Mobile customers will have to pay the carrier an additional amount every month over and above their monthly fee. Customers will be able to go to any T-Mobile store, trade in their existing smartphone, and walk out with a new one without paying a dime — not even sales tax. They can do this three times every year without incurring any kind of additional charges.
JUMP! On Demand will be applicable for all smartphones, including iPhones, and will be available from July 28th. This basically means that you can ‘lease’ an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus from T-Mobile now, and then upgrade to the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, which Apple will be announcing in fall later this year, for free.
Compared to traditional two-year smartphone contracts, T-Mobile will be allowing its customers to switch up to six different phones during the same tenure.
