Apple today announced its brand new 4K iMac with 21.5-inch display, and an updated 5K iMac with 27-inch display — both of which are available to order today from the Apple Online Store.
The 4K iMac boasts an insanely sharp 4096×2304 resolution with 9.4 million pixels, which is 4.5 times more than the standard 21.5-inch iMac. It also offers a wider P3-based color gamut that provides a 25 percent larger color space for more lifelike images and videos.
The 4K iMac comes with a 3.1GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (fifth-generation) as standard, plus 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200. It can also be configured with a 3.3GHz Intel Core i7, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of flash storage.
The updated 5K iMac is now powered by sixth-generation Intel Core processors, and the latest AMD graphics chips. It also offers the wider P3-based color gamut that comes with its smaller sibling.
Both iMacs also come with two Thunderbolt 2 ports as standard, and three-stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi for networking speeds up to 1.3Gbps.
You can order your new iMac today from Apple.com. Prices for the 4K iMac start at $1,499, while the updated 5K iMac starts at $1,799. Both models come with Apple’s latest Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Keyboard, which are priced at $79 and $99 when purchases separately.
