Tinder’s new “Super Like” is to begin rolling out to all users following a successful trial in Australia. The “new type of swipe,” users can express an interest in another person who they feel stands out from everyone else — but only once per day.
“Now, by swiping up, or simply tapping the new blue star icon when looking at someone’s Tinder profile, all users can let that special someone know that they stand out from everyone else,” Tinder explains. When the person you Super Liked sees your profile, a star icon will be displayed, letting them know that you’re super interested.
Following the trial in Australia, which started in early September, Tinder found that users are three times more likely to match with someone they Super Like, and conversations with that person last 70 percent longer than those with other users.
To ensure that users only give Super Likes to people they’re really interested in, users only get one per day. They don’t roll over, either, so you’ll have to be sure you use them wisely. Check out the surreal trailer for Super Likes below.
“The priority is to get people more matches, more quality matches, and deliver that in a fun and entertaining experience,” Tinder CEO Sean Rad told The Next Web. “Getting people more matches is a complicated and challenging thing when you have so many people on the platform.”
