Apple sends out invites for March 21 iPhone SE, 9.7-inch iPad Pro event: ‘Let us loop you in’

Apple March 21 2016 event

As had been previously rumored quite a bit, Apple has just sent out invitations to its latest event, where it’s expected a new iPhone, a new iPad, and new Apple Watch bands will be unveiled.

Apple typically sticks to its schedules, and when March rolls around there’s usually an event for the press and others to attend where the Cupertino-based company unveils new things. This year, it’s not only a new iPad, but also a new 4-inch iPhone. The Apple Watch, almost a year into its availability (in the United States, at least) will also be getting some attention on stage, if the rumors pan out, when Apple unveils new straps for the wearable.

The event kicks off on Monday, March 21.

First up, the iPhone SE (or iPhone 5SE). Rumors have been swirling around the upcoming, and updated, 4-inch iPhone for several months, and while they can’t really agree on what the device will look like, other elements of the handset ring true from one report to the next. That includes a 4-inch display, an A9 processor under the hood alongside an M9 coprocessor, and variants with 16GB or 64GB of built-in storage. On top of that, the iPhone SE is said to feature NFC support for Apple Pay, Touch ID, always-on “Hey, Siri,” support, and a 12-megapixel camera on the back. The iPhone SE will also reportedly support Live Photos for good measure.

Next, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, or the iPad Air 3. Reports recently surfaced that suggest Apple won’t call their next 9.7-inch tablet an Air 3 after all, but instead keep the bigger tablets under the iPad Pro banner. As far as features go, the new tablet will reportedly boast an A9X processor under the hood, and be paired with 4GB of RAM — the same internal setup that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro brings to the table.

The camera on the back of the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro is rumored to be a 12-megapixel shooter, and rumors have repeatedly suggested that the new tablet will feature four speakers as well.

It is also expected that Apple will show off brand new Apple Watch bands at the event, sprucing up the wearable’s customization options for owners. That includes new color options for the Apple Watch Sport bands, a Space Black Milanese Loop option, and perhaps many others.

All in all, it should be a pretty exciting event with a lot to talk about and get excited over. Which announcement are you most excited for?
