First alleged photo of an ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ show off dual-camera system and Smart Connector

iPhone 7 Plus live leak photo

The “iPhone 7 Plus,” the larger sibling to what’s expected to be the “iPhone 7” later this year, has allegedly been captured out in the wild.

The image, which you can see above, shows off a design that’s similar to what we’ve seen in previous leaks, with the rearranged antenna lines so they’re not so obvious, offering a much sleeker rear panel. According to a report from Bastille Post, this is an image of the iPhone 7 Plus out in the wild, showcasing not only the dual-camera system on the back, but also something else interesting: Smart Connector.

It can also be seen in the image that the dual-camera system has made sure that the protrusion for the camera enclosure sticks around for a bit longer, at least in the Plus model. We can see that it extends a bit beyond the smooth back panel, with a pill shape to house the pair of lenses. This is a bit of a change in design, if we’re just comparing this to the renders and rumors of past reports, which suggested Apple would go with two individual circular enclosures.

Near the bottom of the device, just blurry enough to be frustrating, are three dots, which are now being speculated as a Smart Connector for the device. The Smart Connector made its debut on the iPad Pro, which allows accessories like the Smart Keyboard from Apple to connect to the larger iPad. What the Smart Connector can be used for on the iPhone, even one with a 5.5-inch display, remains to be seen. Though, a charging dock might not be hard to imagine.

While the blurry photo might be good enough for some, even if it’s hard to determine if it’s real or not, the iPhone modification company Feld & Volk have put together some renders of the iPhone 7 Plus, showcasing what that pill-shaped camera enclosure might look like, as well as a non-blurry look at the Smart Connector on the bottom of the device.
