Clear App Caches on Your iPhone Using 3D Touch with Lautus [Jailbreak Tweak]

As you use apps on your iPhone, cache files can increase in size over time to take up a considerable amount of space. Sometimes a specific app faces issues with the cached app and can’t continue to operate normally so it’s important that you clear these cache files when needed. Lautus is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to easily clear such files in a snap.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to clear the cache files of an app. iOS doesn’t provide any built-in option for doing this and very few apps come with an option that let users clear the cache. The only way to do it is via a third-party app or by deleting the app and reinstalling it again. This is not a very feasible solution.

Lautus solves this problem by taking advantage of 3D Touch to clear the cache file of an app. When you 3D Touch an app, a quick action menu is opened with a list of shortcut items. Lautus adds a new item called Clear Cache which allows you to easily clear the cache files of an app when you select it.

Lautus will work with any app installed from the App Store even if they don’t come with support for 3D Touch. If you don’t own an iPhone with 3D Touch support, you can still enjoy Lautus by making use of Cydia tweaks that port 3D Touch to older devices such as Forcy or revealMenu, which require you to tap and hold on an app icon to view its 3D Touch menu.

Lautus is indeed a very useful tweak for quickly clearing the cache file of any app leaving your iPhone with extra space, which can be used for other purposes. If you’re in to give this tweak a try, Lautus is available for free in Cydia’s BigBoss repo and supports iOS 9.
