Back in January of this year, it was confirmed by Samsung that, at some point this year, the Gear S2 — the company’s Tizen-based smartwatch — would feature support for the iPhone.
Thanks to a member of the XDA forums, it looks like Samsung is still working on keeping that a reality, as an early version of an iOS app that would be necessary to connect the Gear S2 to the iPhone has leaked online. The app was apparently created as early as March 2, which only means that while Samsung has probably been working on support for awhile, the app is just getting off the ground.
According to the discussion going on in the boards, it looks like Gear S2 owners will have to factory reset their device to connect it to the iPhone. Looks like users of the early app are also reporting that while they can get notifications pushed from Apple’s mobile platform to the wearable, but there’s no way to reply just yet.
There are ways to download the app, which is the Lite version of the iOS app, and you can find it through the XDA source link below.[via 9to5Mac; XDA]
