Way back in January of this year, Samsung officially confirmed that the Gear S2, the company’s recently launched wearable, would support the iPhone at some point in the future.
A few months later a leaked app suggested that support would be arriving right around the corner. Unfortunately for Gear S2 owners that didn’t pan out. But here we are, a few months after that and Samsung has officially started its iOS beta program for the Gear S2 — and the Gear Fit 2 as well.
There are some caveats, of course. The iOS beta program is only available in South Korea, and it runs from August 24 to September 19. It includes the standard Gear S2, as well as the Gear S2 Classic, and, as mentioned above, the Gear Fit 2. As far as which iOS devices are supported, those are:
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE
Those devices need to be running iOS 8.4 or later to work with the beta program. Samsung isn’t announcing when the official public laugh for iOS support for its latest wearables will be launched.[via SamMobile; Samsung]
