Apple is renowned for its stellar customer service, but not everyone gets what they want at the Apple store. One French customer was filmed smashing display iPhones and other products at a store in Dijon after being refused a refund.
The customer, whose name is currently unknown, is believed to be in his thirties. After being refused a refund for an Apple product he returned, he claimed the store violated European rights, and decided to take justice into his own hands.
Using a steel ball from the bowling game pétanque, according to Mashable, the customer casually walks around the Apple store smashing up demo iPhones and a MacBook.
“Apple is a company that ‘violated’ European consumers’ rights,” the customer shouted, according to another shopper. “They refused to reimburse me, I told them: ‘Give me my money back’. They said no. So you know what’s happening? This is happening!”
Security eventually comes to escort the man out of the Apple store, and he was eventually arrested by police, according to a local report. He is now in custody while an investigation is underway. It’s thought the man caused thousands of euros worth of damage.
In the video below, the man is shown trying to flee security before being caught again.
It’s not totally clear which product this customer attempted to return for a refund, or why it was refused. But it is clear that this isn’t how you react when you don’t get your own way at the Genius Bar.[via Mashable]
