Apple made key changes for the Apple Watch Series 2, and introduced some welcomed upgrades for the Series 1, and it looks like even the charging cable is getting a change, too.
As reported by MacRumors, the new charging cable, which runs into a wireless charging area to set the Apple Watch on, will only be 1-meter in length. That’s down from the 2M cable that was included with the original Apple Watch. So if you’re planning on buying a Series 1 or Series 2 Apple Watch next week, be aware that the charging cable will be a tad shorter than what was previously available.
Interestingly enough, Apple is still selling a 2M Apple Watch charging cable as a standalone product, which retail for $39. Those are available both in Apple retail stores and online. Apple is also selling extra 1M charging cables, too, which retail for $29. It’s also worth noting that Series 2 wearables will come with a 5W USB Power Adapter in the box, but Series 1 watches will not.
