Apple Stays Quiet on the Future of Mac mini but Claims It’s Still an ‘Important Product’

The Mac mini hasn’t been updated since 2014, which is a long time by Apple’s standards. Apple has launched the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar since then, while the Mac Pro got a specs refresh earlier today. However, the company was pretty vague while talking about the Mac mini’s future in the industry.

When asked about this, senior VP of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller said, “On that I’ll say the Mac Mini is an important product in our lineup and we weren’t bringing it up because it’s more of a mix of consumer with some pro use. … The Mac Mini remains a product in our lineup, but nothing more to say about it today.”

The company has left a lot of questions unanswered, but by mentioning that it’s still an important product, Apple has left us with some hope that maybe one day the Mac mini will get the upgrade and specs bump that it deserves.

Speaking on the occasion, Apple also mentioned that it’s working on a new version of the Mac Pro, as well as the displays/monitors that the company offers. These products will apparently hit the markets post 2017.
