Powermat is known for its wireless technologies and has played a key role in the development of the technology. Now, the company’s CEO, Elad Dubzinski, in a statement related to the appointment of the Dan Stone as the Chairman of the Board of Powermat has mentioned that wireless charging will be a standard feature on the next iPhone.
Dubzinski’s statement was not related to the iPhone in any way and was more about the adoption of wireless technology becoming mainstream.
“With the recent announcement by Apple that wireless charging will become a standard feature in the next iPhone, we are finally at the threshold of mainstream adoption,” said Mr. Dubzinski.
Knowing Apple, it’s unlikely that Dubzinski was made aware of the company’s plans beforehand. In all likelihood, he made the statement based on the rumors and analysts predictions. It is strongly believed that Apple will be including wireless charging on all three iPhone models that it will be launching later this year. The company is unlikely to bundle the wireless charger with the device though, and consumers will have to purchase it as a separate accessory.
Apple has already joined the consortium behind Qi charging earlier this year thereby further fueling rumors about the upcoming iPhones coming with wireless charging. Apple already uses Qi wireless charging on the Apple Watch but the company tweaked the standard enough to make it incompatible with other existing Qi chargers in the market. It remains to be seen if Apple will do something similar with wireless charging on its newer iPhones as well.[Via PRNewsWire, 9toMac]
