Apple Launches ‘Close Your Rings’ Site to Promote the Apple Watch and Health

The Apple Watch started out as just a smartwatch, but, over time, Apple changed the game plan and turned it into a go-to source for a healthy living tool.

One of the key elements of that initiative is “closing the rings”. This is a built-in feature for the Apple Watch, with three separate colored rings that focus on individual tasks: Standing, exercising, and movement. Each individual Apple Watch owner can set a different goal in each task, and, on a daily basis, aims to close those rings to meet the goals.

Apple has now launched a dedicated site to close those rings:

“Three rings: Move, Exercise, Stand. One goal: Close them every day. It’s such a simple and fun way to live a healthier day that you’ll want to do it all the time. That’s the idea behind the Activity app on Apple Watch.”

To close the move ring, you’ll need to burn calories on a regular basis. On the new site, Apple details how you can achieve that in a variety of different ways. The website also shows that users can select a specific watch face to make sure their rings are front-and-center the whole time, and that users can change their move goal whenever they want.

From the site, and each category:

“Apple Watch tracks the active calories you burn. Active calories are the ones you burn through all kinds of movement, from taking the stairs at work to playing with the kids to cleaning out the garage. Being active throughout the day is an important part of living a healthy life.”

“The Exercise ring shows how many minutes of activity you’ve completed, whether you’re just moving at a fast pace or doing a specific workout in the Workout app. All at once or a little at a time, you can earn Exercise minutes however it works for you.”

“Sitting too much can contribute to health problems. That’s why Apple Watch tracks your progress toward your Stand goal and motivates you to get up throughout the day. Being less sedentary can lead to lower blood pressure, increased energy, and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.”

Of course, it shows that the Apple Watch also has achievements, and personalized goals on a semi-regular basis. You can check out the full website through the source link below.

Our Take

The Apple Watch’s evolution has been one of the strongest elements for Apple’s smartwatch, and definitely one of the reasons why the device has become so popular since its debut. Apple will surely continue to focus on those features moving forward, and it will be interesting to see how it expands those needs in years and models to come.
