Snapchat ‘Snappables’ is a New Way to Play Games in the Social App

If you are a Snapchat user and have wondered what it might be like to play games within the social app with your eyebrows, well, you can now find out.

Today, Snap, the company behind Snapchat, has officially announced what it calls “Snappables”. This new feature lives within Lenses, and Snap details Snappables as a new way to play “augmented reality games”. Players will be able to control the input within the game they are playing in a variety of ways, including touch, motion, and facial expressions — like raising your eyebrows over and over again.

“Snappables live right where Lenses do. Just choose one and get your game face on! Then, invite your friends to play along too. Some Snappables let you challenge friends to beat your high score, while others can invite them to multiplayer games!”

Interestingly enough, Snappables will apparently have a weekly release date, with Snapchat getting a new game to play every week. There isn’t any mention of any of the games costing money, which is good news.

Here is a video showing off the new Snappables:

The new feature is available in the latest version of Snapchat, which you can find a link to down below.

Our Take

Adding games to Snapchat is certainly a nice touch, especially with the multiplayer being added in there for good measure. However, I can’t help but wonder if this video actually does anything to sell the product, when all it shows is that Snapchat users will make a lot of crazy faces out in public. Or maybe this is the future we should all prepare for.

Are you going to play Snappables?
