Soon after Apple sent out its September 12 iPhone event invite, the leaks regarding the company’s hardware announcements at the event started flowing in at full flow. Apart from a leaked iPhone XS marketing image, we also got a clear look at the Apple Watch Series 4 with its edge-to-edge display.
The leaked marketing image gives us a clear look at the Apple Watch Series 4 with its bigger display. As rumors had pointed out, the Apple Watch Series 4 features an edge-to-edge display which allows Apple to incorporate a 15 percent bigger display on its wearable without increasing its dimensions.
In addition to the bigger display, Apple seems to be also revamping its watch faces to take advantage of the larger viewing area. The new clock face in the leaked marketing image has a lot going on, with up to eight different complications. Given the bigger display, we should see Apple bundle new clock faces in watchOS 5 to take advantage of the bigger display on the Apple Watch Series 4.
Apple also seems to have added another microphone on the Series 4 between the Digital Crown and the side button. This will presumably help further improve how the Raise to Siri feature works.
Apple Watch Series 4 Features
- Bigger edge-to-edge display
- Faster internals
- Compatible with existing watch bands
- Secondary microphone for better voice detection
Given that the iPhone XS is going to retain the same design as its predecessor, Apple seems to have focused on bringing the same design trend of reducing the bezel size to its other devices. Apart from the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple is also expected to unveil its 2018 iPad Pro at the event featuring smaller bezels and Face ID.
What do you think about the Apple Watch Series 4 based on the leaked marketing image? Apple already dominates the wearable category and with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 4, the company is only going to further cement its place in this category.
