AirPods is a convenience-first device. It comes at the cost of many compromises, but the convenience factor is so high, we accept all flaws. From the lack of buttons to the mediocre sound quality. But ear comfort is one place where some of us just can’t make the sacrifice. As we’ve talked about in our AirPods tips and tricks article, if your AirPods fall off from your ear when you’re walking or running, it’s time to get an accessory. Here are the best ear hooks for AirPods in 2019.
The Best AirPods Ear Hooks
First of all, why an AirPods ear hook? If you go shopping for running earphones, you’ll find that the best pairs come with multiple attachments. One of them is an ear hook or sometimes referred to as ear wings.
An ear hook attaches to the AirPods and it goes to the top of the ear and not inside the ear canals. Once the hook is hooked in, there are no changes of AirPods accidentally falling off. If your ear canal is too big for the AirPods to stay secure for a prolonged time, you should get an ear hook.
There are a couple of different types of ear hooks. Some with a wing style design, some which add more padding to the AirPods. Let’s talk a look at the best options here.
1. EarBuddyz 2.0 Ear Hooks
These are the most popular option on Amazon for AirPods ear hooks and they are highly rated. EarBuddyz gives you a three pair pack at around 10 dollars, which is a good deal. And it comes in multiple colors – Black, Clear, Pink and Sky Blue. The clear is the best option if you want something invisible and don’t want to crowd up the Apple aesthetic.
The pair of ear hooks are designed especially for AirPods, with proper cutouts for speakers and sensors. You can use the double-tap gestures with the cover as well.

2. AhaStyle Ear Hooks
AhaStyle Ear Hooks are for people who need a lot more padding and support. For example, if your ear canal is huge compared to the AirPods and the AirPods just slide out of your ears now and then, take a look at this pair of ear hooks.
They turn your AirPods into a pair of in-ear headphones. There’s a small, in-ear tip at the end. So now, the AirPods fits snugly in the middle of the ear canal, while the silicone bud goes deeper in the ear. Add to this, a bigger, longer wing (compared to the EarBuddyz). And you’ve got an amazingly snug fit. Go run, dance or headbang, the AirPods are not going anywhere.
There’s also a nice side effect of using this accessory. Because of the snug fit and the in-ear bud, the AirPods sound quality increases. There’s more base and less outside noise.

You connect the hook with the stem of the AirPod and then loop the TPU hook around your ear. It costs $9 and comes in five colors: Black, White, Red, Indigo, and Blue.

Ear Hooks Are Not for AirPods Case
The only thing you should remember when buying a pair of AirPods ear hooks is the fact that they don’t work with the AirPods charging case. So you’ll have to remove them before you put the AirPods in the case.
One way to avoid this is to buy an ear cover that does work with AirPods, but it won’t give you the secure fit that an ear hook does. Take a look at DamonLight AirPods Covers to see if they’re a good choice for you.
