Hot on the heels of the Pwn20wnd team rolling out Unc0ver 3.5.0 with iOS 12.4 jailbreak support, the Electra team has also rolled out a similar update for their Chimera jailbreak tool. Unlike Unc0ver, Chimera jailbreak for iOS 12.4 only supports A8-A11 devices.
What this means is that Chimera supports jailbreaking iPhones or iPads running iOS 12.4 starting from the iPhone 6 and higher until the iPhone X. This even includes the iPhone SE, 6th gen iPad, iPad mini 3, and more. It only lacks support for iPhone 5s which is supported by Unc0ver.
Chimera 1.2.8 is now available! Adds support for iOS 12.4 on A9 – A11 devices!https://t.co/BK7adY517T

Both Unc0ver and Chimera lack support for jailbreaking A12 devices like the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and the 2018 iPad Pro running iOS 12.4. Chimera does support jailbreaking these A12 devices but only if they are running iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2.
If you are using Chimera to jailbreak your iPhone/iPad running iOS 12.4 and the process fails the first time around, the team notes that you should repeat the steps without rebooting your device. The chances of a successful jailbreak are higher the second time around in such a scenario.
Chimera ships with Sileo as its default package manager which has a modern UI/UX compared to Cydia.
