Spotify is finally adding the much needed parental control. Initially, the new feature will only be available in Ireland. Spotify says it will roll out the feature to the other markets by the end of the year. Spotify Premium Family will allow parents to control the Explicit Content Filter settings on all of the accounts.
Spotify will continue offering a personalized playlist for each family member. Furthermore, the Family Mix will offer curated songs for the entire family.
Family Mix: Families will get exclusive access to a personalized playlist packed with songs the whole family enjoys. Family Mix is updated regularly and you can control who is in each session to optimize your family’s favorite shared listening moments.
Family Hub is a place wherein billing users can manage and change their family settings, all at one place. For instance, the admin can add or remove family members and edit certain things like a home address. Spotify also allows them to use the newly launched parental control. That apart, Spotify Premium Family members will still get up to six individual accounts. Every account is capable of having a personalized playlist and saved music. If you are a Premium Family user, Spotify will notify you of new parental controls once it is available in your region.
Apple Music and Spotify are staunch rivals. However, both companies seem to be working on eliminating their differences. Spotify has mostly been the one taking potshots at Apple, however, the company is now allegedly in talks with Apple. Spotify wants Apple to offer SIRI music controls for Spotify on iOS 13. Spotify is currently the numero uno with 103 Million paid subscribers whilst Apple Music is playing catch up with 60 Million subscribers.[via Spotify]
