When Apple launched the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro last month, it claimed that it shipped with the world’s toughest glass in a smartphone. However, as many iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro owners are now discovering, that toughness does not mean much as the cover glass on their smartphone is getting scratched easily.
Threads on Apple support forums are filled with complaints from new iPhone 11 users about scratches. Some say their display glass has a “finger smear” while others say the glass got scratched despite them babying their phone and never putting it in contact with any sharp object. Many users are complaining that the display on their older iPhone never got scratched so easily despite years of use while it took just a day or two of use for the display on their iPhone 11 to get scratched.
The problem here is that when Apple decided to toughen up the glass on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, it ended up compromising on its scratch resistance. A softer glass will not shatter easily, but it will scratch easily which is the case here. This is a scenario that plays out after almost every iPhone launch.
If your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro screen already has a few scratches, there is not much you can do about it. These scratches are permanent and you cannot use toothpaste or any other trick to remove them. What you can, however, do is to put a screen protector on your iPhone 11 Pro’s display thereby preventing it from getting scratched further. There are plenty of quality screen protectors available for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series that will do a great job of protecting the display from scratches and not affect the display quality as well.
