Amazon Echo Devices Add Support for Apple Podcasts

Amazon Echo devices have finally started supporting Apple Podcasts. Amazon has announced that Alexa owners in the United States can use the Echo to play Apple Podcasts.

In order for this to work, customers have to link their Amazon account on the Alexa app with Apple ID. After linking Apple ID, your progress, preferences and other settings on Podcast apps will be synced with Amazon Alexa Echo.

Whether you’re listening at home or on the go, you don’t need to worry about losing your spot. Link your account in the Alexa app using your Apple ID, and you can seamlessly pick up where you left off listening on the Apple Podcasts App or your Alexa device. Pause the subscribed episode you’re listening to in the Apple Podcasts app on your commute, and continue listening with your Alexa device at home by asking Alexa to resume the podcast.

According to Amazon, using Podcasts on Echo devices is a breeze. All you need to do is ask Alexa to play the episode. For instance, Alexa, play Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend on Apple Podcasts. In this case, the Echo will directly play the Podcast you had asked for.

Here is how you can set Apple Podcasts as your preferred podcast provider on Alexa. Open the Alexa app, go to Settings, choose Music & Podcasts and in the next step you need to click on the link/manage new services. Every time you ask for a podcast, Alexa will make it a point to search the Podcast app and check if it is available.
