WhatsApp Messenger Beta for iPhone Arrives with Redesigned Dark Mode that Requires iOS 13

WhatsApp’s Dark Mode for iOS finally seems to be closer to release. WABetaInfo has detailed the new Dark Mode features arriving on iOS The Dark Mode has now rolled out to beta users on TestFlight and it is only a matter of time before it ends up in production builds.

We need to realize that the new Dark Mode is very different from the one launched before. The Dark Mode in previous beta version suffered from battery drain issues and had trouble supporting iOS 13 APIs. In the meantime, the new Dark Mode on WhatsApp follows iOS system-wide Dark Mode setting guidelines. In other words, the Dark Mode on WhatsApp will automatically switch on when the iOS users activate system-wide Dark Mode.

Since the Dark Mode on WhatsApp uses iOS 13 API’s it will not be available for older iPhones that don’t support iOS 13. Only users having iPhone 6s and above will be able to use Dark Mode on WhatsApp.

The new Dark Mode for WhatsApp is redesigned in many aspects. The WhatsApp logo is placed within a Dark Splash Screen and the chats list is also treated to a black theme. Once the chat is opened then you will see Dark Bubbles and a Dark Wallpaper. It is worth noting that wallpapers are dynamic and change the style when the theme is changed. A majority of sections are treated to dark colors and this includes even the Share section.

WhatsApp has also added new Dark Solid Colors that can be chosen as Chat Wallpaper. As with any other apps that support Dark Mode, you can choose to increase contrast in iPhone settings. WhatsApp has already started rolling out the Dark Mode and will soon be available for all iOS beta users.
