Bitcoin started getting attention from mainstream media when its value peaked in December 2017. Ever since then the adoption rate for bitcoin is steadily rising. Now Opera has announced that users can buy Ethereum and Bitcoin via its browser by using Apple Pay.
Opera was the first browser to introduce Web 3 capabilities and a built-in crypto wallet across all of its mobile and desktop browsers. The Norwegian company is now letting its US users easily purchase cryptocurrencies using a debit card or Apple Pay.
Easy crypto top-ups are available in Opera’s flagship Android browser, its iOS browser Opera Touch as well as in the crypto wallet available in its desktop browser.”
Opera is partnering with Wyre, a cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S. The integration will allow Opera users to directly purchase cryptocurrency from the browsers crypto wallet. Android users are required to use a debit card while iOS users can simply use Apple Pay. The new feature is part of Opera’s vision for making blockchain technology relevant.
Allowing our users to easily load cryptocurrency into their browser’s digital wallet is very powerful, as it connects the Web to a global internet-native payment network.”
When you purchase cryptocurrency via Apple Pay the same will be deposited to your wallet in less than 30 seconds. It is amazing how technology has evolved, in the early days, buying Bitcoin involved a lot of hassles and now it can be done with a click of a button. Furthermore, it is good to see companies like Opera and Apple supporting cryptocurrency and adding new features that will make it easier for end-users.
Currently, only U.S Opera users can buy Bitcoin and Ethereum on the browser and soon the feature is expected to be launched in other countries.[via Opera]
