New Co-Watching Feature Will Let You Browse Instagram with Friends While Practicing Social Distancing

Instagram is doing its bit to help users cope up with the COVID-19 crisis. Instagram has now launched a new feature called Co-Watching which lets you look at other pictures along with your friend. They have also launched other features that make credible information related to the COVID-19 outbreak easily accessible.

Co-Watching feature seems very thoughtful as it would mimic a real-life scenario of spending time with your friends. In order to access the feature, you need to start a video chat session. It is here that you can see saved, liked and suggested photos and videos with your friends and the same is accessible by tapping photo icon on the bottom left corner.

In a bid to increase awareness about Covid-19, Instagram is adding new stickers informing users of precautionary measures like washing hands and social distancing. For instance, you can make use of the Stay Home sticker in order to show other people how you are dealing with quarantine and other measures to keep Covid-19 at bay.

Furthermore, Instagram is also rolling out donation stickers in more companies and helping users discover nonprofits to support. Accounts and content related to Covid-19 are being removed from the platform. Instagram is only allowing Covid-19 related content posted from credible health organizations. If you are searching for Covid-19 information on Instagram you will be greeted with an educational message from World Health Organization and other related health ministries.

Instagram has also tweaked the algorithm to downrank content and stories that have been rated as false by third-party fact-checkers. Thats not all, the users will also be removed from Explore and hashtag pages.
