Popular Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released yet another note to the investor. In this note, Kuo details Apple’s plan for the rest of the year and says we can expect six new Apple products with mini-LED technology. The list of new products includes a new 14.1-inch MacBook Pro.
Last year Apple released a 16-inch MacBook Pro to replace the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Now they are aiming at replacing 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with the new 14.1-inch MacBook Pro. As expected, the new MacBook Pro will arrive with a scissor-switch magic keyboard and is likely to feature a mini-LED display.
Interestingly Apple is also going to launch a slew of other products with a mini-LED display. The list includes a 12.9-0inch iPad Pro, 27-inch iMac Pro, 10.2-inch iPad, 16-inch MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and a 7.9-inch iPad Mini. In other words, Apple is seemingly switching to mini-LED in a majority of new devices.
Kuo also reveals that Apple will finally update iMac Pro. The previous iMac Pro was released in 2017 and an update was long due. According to the report, the iMac Pro is likely to be launched in Q4 this year. The company maintains that coronavirus breakout will not affect the release timeline of new mini-LED products. An earlier report had already hinted at a 13-inch MacBook Pro with a magic keyboard.
Mini-LED is said to be better than OLED displays used on iPhone 11 Pro and Apple Watch. LED-backlit displays make use of hundreds of LED’s, however, the mini LED will use smaller backlighting spread across a thousand array local dimming zones. The mini LED displays will offer a higher contrast ratio, higher brightness, more power-efficient, and fewer chances of burn-in as opposed to OLED.
