Apple refreshed the iPhone SE last year with updated internals and camera. In many ways, the device was just an iPhone 8 with updated internals that Apple was selling as the iPhone SE (2020). There are rumors of the company possibly releasing an iPhone SE Plus this year. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen but for now, check out this iPhone SE (2021) concept below which envisions the device as being based on the iPhone 12 mini.
The concept imagines the iPhone SE (2021) without a notch. Instead, it features a punch-hole 12MP camera. The front is dominated by a 5.4-inch Super Retina Display, the same size as the one found on the iPhone 12 mini. The rear design is similar to the existing iPhone SE with glass panels at the front and rear sandwiching an aluminum chassis. Even if Apple goes with a 5.4-inch display on the next iPhone SE, there won’t be a noticeable jump in its size since the company would be getting rid of the massive top and bottom bezels.
There’s no Face ID here which makes sense since the iPhone SE is usually Apple’s cheapest offering and it needs to cut corners somewhere to keep the price in check. To make up for the missing Face ID, the concept envisions Apple integrating the Touch ID scanner into the power button located on the right edge. Internally, the device is powered by Apple’s latest chipset, the A14 Bionic, and comes with 4GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. It also has MagSafe support so all MagSafe accessories are going to be compatible with it.
The concept also imagines the iPhone SE (2021) with just a single 12MP rear shooter at the rear. While this should be enough for most users, there’s no denying the usefulness of an ultra-wide angle shooter. Here’s hoping that if Apple indeed plans on releasing an iPhone SE refresh this or the next year, it ends up taking some design cues from this concept.[Via Svetapple]
