iOS 15 Supported Devices: All the iPhones Compatible with iOS 15

iOS 15

Apple announced iOS 15 at the opening keynote of WWDC 2021 today. The next major release of iOS packs a number of new features including redesigned notifications, Live Text, Focus, and more.

With iOS 14 last year, Apple did not drop support for any of the older iPhones despite the OS packing a number of new features. It was rumored that Apple would drop support for the iPhone 6s and original iPhone SE with iOS 15 this year. However, that’s not happening with iOS 15 being compatible with the same set of iPhones as iOS 14.

iOS 15 Compatible iPhones

iOS 15 is compatible with the following iPhones:

  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11
  • 2020 iPhone SE
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE (Original)

It is impressive to see that Apple has not dropped support for the iPhone 6s series in iOS 15 despite their age. These iPhones were first released in September 2015, so Apple has already provided them with regular software updates for over 5.5 years now.

iOS 15 Release Date

Apple usually releases a major new iOS version in September. The company is expected to follow a similar timeframe this year as well. So, expect iOS 15 to be released in September, though the public beta program of the OS will start from next month itself.
