Analyst: Apple to launch iWatch in 2014, could be priced at $199

There have been several rumors that Apple will launch an iOS based smartwatch, informally called iWatch.

Analyst Wanli Wang at CIMB Securities claims that two Taiwanese firms, Inventec and Quanta Computer have received orders to make the highly anticipated iWatch, according to The Economic Times.

According to AppleInsider, the Japanese website Macotakara claims to have inside information that Apple is currently testing 1.5 inch OLED screens for a product that’ll likely end up being their first wearable. The report says Apple originally wanted to go with a 1.8 inch display, but that during testing they found it to be a bit on the big side.

The Verge claims that according to their source, Apple’s smartwatch will run a full version of iOS and the watch project is being led by Jony Ive, Apple’s Design Chief and who also provides leadership and direction for Human Interface software teams across the company.
