While the iPhone Dev Team are working hard to unlock GSM iPhone, it looks like some folks have figured out a way to flash CDMA iPhone 4 to work on pay-as-you-go carrier Cricket Wireless’ network in the US.

Few weeks back, we had reported that Verizon iPhone 4 had been unlocked to work on China Telecom’s CDMA network.

Verizon To Discontinue Unlimited Data Plans For iPhone Customers By Mid-Summer

Bloomberg is reporting that Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo has revealed that it plans to discontinue its unlimited data plan for iPhone users as early as mid-summer.

Verizon currently offers their smartphone customers include iPhone customers an unlimited data plans for $30 on top of customers calling plans.

Consumer Report Won’t Recommend Verizon iPhone 4 Due To Reception Problems

Consumer Reports, a popular product review and comparison organization has just reported that Verizon iPhone 4 has a similar reception problem to the GSM iPhone 4, which could cause drop calls in areas with weak signal.

I guess everyone knows by now that Verizon iPhone does not allow simultaneous voice and data transfer (over 3G).

However, Apple has recently published the difference between AT&T’s GSM iPhone 4 and Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 in a Knowledge Base article, which explains how some minor features such as call forwarding, call waiting, caller id, conference calls, inserting pauses when dialing and hold work.

BGR reports that sales of Verizon iPhone has fallen short of Apple and Verizon’s expectations based on information from five Apple stores during the first five day’s of Verizon iPhone’s availability.

BGR has revealed total unit sales totals from five Apple stores, which includes two prominent Apple stores.

Verizon iPhone 4 Costs $171.35 To Manufacture; 9% Less Than GSM iPhone 4

iSuppli, electronics market research firm published results from a teardown study late last week where the company has looked into the costs incurred by Apple in manufacturing the Verizon iPhone.

iSuppli reports that Apple has managed to reduce the bill of materials (BOM) cost of the CDMA iPhone 4 compared to the GSM version. While the GSM iPhone 4 costs Apple $187.51 to manufacture, the CDMA iPhone carries a BOM of $171.35, which is a good 9% less than the GSM iPhone 4.

They have also noticed that Wi-Fi reception is affected when the Verizon iPhone is held in a different position referred to as the “death hug” something that hasn’t been observed on the GSM iPhone 4.
