The past couple of months have not been easy for Apple. Ever since Motorola Droid arrived in the market, there has been constant debate over whether or not the Droid is better than the iPhone. To add to the challenges, Verizon launched their attack campaigns, first against AT&T and then against Apple.
After all this, one might have thought Apple might have shown signs of cracking.
If you are an iPhone 3GS user who has accidentally upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1 as you weren’t aware of the warning given by the iPhone Dev Team to avoid upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1 then there is some more bad news.
Unfortunately, there is still no news as to when tethering will be available as there was no mention of it in the press release, so looks like AT&T customers will have to wait even longer for that feature.
Apple has just released iPhone OS 3.0.1 to fix the SMS vulnerability which was revealed by researchers Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner yesterday at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas.
They had claimed that a security vulnerability in the iPhone's SMS
messaging system could allow hackers to in theory "take over
every iPhone in the world".
Apple seems to have realized that it was serious enough to release a patch to fix the SMS vulnerability.
