Popular multimedia messaging app Snapchat is today launching Spotlight, a new section within the app that allows one to share vertical video content that more meme-like and jokey. Hence, this makes it the latest social app to compete with TikTok.
Trump has threatened to ban TikTok in the US. The app has already been banned in countries like India. Now Snapchat has announced a TikTok rivalling feature that allows you to add music to video.
Snapchat is looking to capitalize on the possible ban on TikTok in the United States with a new navigation gesture for content discovery that’s very similar to the latter. The company is testing a “new experience” that will allow users to navigate through the public content in the Discover tab of the app by swiping vertically.
Snapchat was among the hardest apps to navigate and use when it was first released a few years ago. However, the company made consistent improvements to the app’s UI and design. It has been testing a brand new design since earlier this year, and it has been formally announced today.
Snapchat was the first one to come up with Stories, but the format and feature has since then been copied by almost every other social media platform. Today, Snapchat is launching Snapchat App Stories that will allow users to show their ephemeral content in other apps too.
Snapchat is once again working on a redesign of its app that it is currently testing with a small number of its userbase. The redesign sees the company give Snap Map a section of its own and to its original video programming section in the app. It is also testing inserting breaking news headlines on the Discover page.
In a bid to rope in more users, Snapchat has introduced yet another AR lens. Snapchat’s new AR lens seems to be heavily influenced by FaceApp which offered an age filter. Earlier this year, the company experimented with Baby filter and is said to have tasted success with the same. Fancy seeing your aged version? then this Snap filter is for you.
Snapchat has added a new “3D Camera Mode” feature for iPhone X and newer iPhones. The feature captures 3D selfies and lets you add 3D effects, lenses, and filters. Meanwhile, people who receive the selfie will be able to see it even if they are not using iPhone X. The company will expand the 3D Camera Mode feature for other devices in the near future.
Snapchat today announced Spectacles 3 with 3D cameras, a new frame, and an equally higher price tag. The new Spectacles are notably more powerful than their predecessor and the dual HD cameras make it an ideal device for AR purposes.

But there are a couple of workarounds and tricks that still work. Read on to find out how to secretly screenshot Snapchat Stories on iPhone.
